For 25 years, journalists have witnessed and documented the journey of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization through their lenses. From cross-border connectivity and security cooperation to cultural exchanges, youth activities, sports and technology, their cameras have captured moments that trace the SCO’s development since its founding in 2001. Together, these images offer a visual record of how cooperation has expanded across the region and brought people closer together.
This week in Bishkek, SCO leaders looked back on those 25 years while setting out priorities for the future. They called on the SCO to stay committed to putting development and the people first, taking security as a key goal, and promoting dialogue and consultation. The summit also adopted 28 outcome documents covering security, economic, people-to-people and cultural cooperation, as well as organizational development.
As the SCO enters its next chapter, look back through the lens at the cooperation and connections that have shaped its first 25 years.
