As Dashu, or Major Heat, the hottest of China’s Twenty-Four Solar Terms, arrives, Home of Journalists hosted the “Harmony of Heaven and Earth, Beauty through All Seasons” cultural experience event, inviting global media professionals to experience the Eastern philosophy of living in harmony with nature and following the rhythm of the seasons.
The Twenty-Four Solar Terms were officially inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2016 as a knowledge system tracking time, agriculture, and natural changes through the sun’s annual motion. More than a way of marking time, they embody a philosophy of respecting nature and living in harmony with it.Through traditional summer wellness practices, tea culture and a variety of hands-on cultural experiences, participants explored the aesthetics and wisdom embedded in everyday Chinese life, while fostering dialogue and mutual understanding across cultures.
