As AI takes center stage at the ongoing World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai, conversations are also turning to a question that matters deeply to journalists: How do we keep truth at the heart of storytelling in the age of AI?
That question was at the heart of the China–South and Southeast Asia Media Roundtable, held by Home of Journalists under the theme “Shaping Asian Narratives and Strengthening Media Cooperation in the Era of AI,” where journalists from 10 countries explored how AI is reshaping newsrooms. While participants welcomed its potential in translation, reporting, and content production, they also stressed that technology can never replace credibility, ethics, or on-the-ground reporting.
