Belarusian Union of Journalists Issues Call for Entries for the 10th International Documentary Film Festival “Eurasia.DOC”

Andrei Krivosheev, Chairman of the Belarusian Union of Journalists (BUJ) and Rotating Chairman of the Presidium of the Belt and Road Journalists Network (BRJN), has forwarded the Call for Entries for the 10th International Documentary Film Festival “Eurasia.DOC” to the BRJN Secretariat, inviting journalist organizations to submit and recommend documentary works for participation in the Festival.

The 10th International Documentary Film Festival “Eurasia.DOC” will be held from September 28 to October 2, 2026, in Smolensk, Russian Federation, and Minsk, Republic of Belarus. During the Festival, outstanding professional documentary films, as well as short documentary films by young filmmakers with a running time of no more than four minutes, will be screened.

The BUJ has officially launched the call for entries. The submission deadline for the Main Competition Section is July 10, 2026, while the submission deadline for the Youth Competition Section is July 20, 2026.

Documentary films submitted to the Main Competition Section may address, but are not limited to, the following themes:

·The 85th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War;
·Women’s World (biographical documentaries about outstanding women and documentaries directed by women filmmakers);
·Major events and development trends across Eurasia;
·Small Homeland (exploring the diversity of history, culture and traditions through the perspectives of individuals, families, cities and regions);
·Conflicts and solutions in the contemporary world;
·As well as other themes capable of evoking a strong response from both audiences and the Festival Jury.

No thematic restrictions apply to entries submitted to the Youth Competition Section. The section is intended to showcase issues and topics that concern young creators. The sincerity of the filmmaker and the significance of the subject matter will constitute the principal criteria for evaluation. Winners of the Youth Competition Section will receive cash prizes and filming and editing equipment provided by the Festival’s sponsors.

The principal events of the 10th International Documentary Film Festival “Eurasia.DOC” will include public screenings at leading cinemas in Smolensk and Minsk. Award-winning films will subsequently be featured in touring screenings across Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and other countries. The Festival program will also include meetings with filmmakers, master classes in journalism and documentary filmmaking for young creators, round-table discussions on topical issues, expert seminars and other professional events.

The BUJ invites journalist organizations to recommend outstanding documentary films for submission and participation in the Festival.
