HomeofJournalists Mourns Al-Akhbar Reporter Killed in Israeli Airstrike

2026-04-30

Last week, Lebanese journalist Amal Khalil, a correspondent for Al-Akhbar, after being trapped under rubble following Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon. Her colleague Zeinab Faraj, was also injured in the attack. Our deepest condolences go out to Amal’s family, friends, and colleagues.

Two months into the US-Israeli war against Iran, we have witnessed repeated assaults on journalists across conflict zones. RT correspondent Steve Sweeney and his cameraman, Ali Rida Sbeity, were wounded by a missile strike in Lebanon. Outside the Old City of Jerusalem, a CNN producer was among a group of journalists violently targeted by police, resulting in a fractured wrist. Furthermore, multiple reporters and buildings related to Iranian TV broadcasters have also come under attack. These incidents continue to push the physical boundaries of safety for those reporting on the front lines.

Here at HomeofJournalists, we closely track the ongoing dangers facing frontline reporters. We call on all parties to stop the attacks on journalists and civilians alike. We salute the journalists who step into the crossfire to document the reality of war and expose the true nature of violence. We wish them peace and safety on their missions.
