We’ve recently noted that media organizations including the Belarusian Union of Journalists, the Union of Journalists of the Russian Federation, and the Union of Bulgarian Journalists have all voiced serious concern over the removal of three major Belarusian media outlets — ONT, CTV, and BelTA — from YouTube. They’ve described such an act as “a violation of the public’s right to information from diverse sources.”
We support the efforts of the above journalist organizations to safeguard media pluralism and the public’s right to information. Today’s internet and social media platforms should facilitate the free flow of diverse information and remain neutral.
