In March, Home of Journalists hosted two Press Salon sessions in Beijing, focusing on high-quality economic development during the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) period and China’s transition toward a new growth model. Experts including Yao Jingyuan, Special Research Fellow of the Counsellors’ Office of the State Council, and Huang Yiping, Boya Distinguished Professor at Peking University, engaged with journalists from around the world, offering systematic insights into China’s economic direction and policy priorities.
Yao Jingyuan noted that the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) is grounded in China’s national conditions and aligned with its current stage of development, providing a clear and strategic roadmap for addressing key challenges. Huang Yiping emphasized that China is accelerating its economic shift toward a new growth model, moving from one driven by external demand and investment to one led by domestic demand and innovation. Both experts also responded to questions from journalists from multiple countries during the sessions.
As an ongoing platform, the Press Salon continues to help global media better understand China’s economic transformation and its implications for the world.
