Global journalists meet at Hainan to learn its development

2026-02-28

On Feb 26, Home of Journalists  invite global journalists to China’s Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP) for a closer look at its latest developments. On Dec 18 last year, China launched island-wide special customs operations in the Hainan FTP — a landmark step in advancing free trade and high-standard opening-up.

Months into the new operations, notable changes are already taking shape. To help journalists better understand what this move means in practice, Home of Journalists organized a Press Salon under the theme “China Travelogue: Group Interview for Journalists in Hainan FTP,” where officials from different departments in Hainan briefed international journalists on the latest progress of the island-wide customs operations, related policy frameworks, and their early impacts — followed by an open Q&A. Journalists also engaged in on-site visits across Haikou, Danzhou, and Qionghai to gain firsthand insights into the Free Trade Port’s operations and emerging opportunities.
