Every ending is a vantage point for a new beginning.
At Home of Journalists, we are honored to be a meeting place for voices that cross borders and cultures. Since 2024, our Media Ambassadors — nominated by journalists organizations across BRl countries — have gathered during the annual Belt and Road Journalists Forum each year to share firsthand experiences from the field. As we bid farewell to 2025 and look ahead, we invited these frontline storytellers to pause and reflect. Their messages go beyond headlines, reminding us of what unites journalists everywhere: a commitment to truth, empathy, and the belief that stories can still bridge a divided world.

1. New Year message from Huan Xiang
Journalist, People’s Daily Global Department
Finding “Yourself” in an Open China
As the year draws to a close, looking back on my journey as a “Media Messenger” for the “International Home of Journalists,” I see a year that was busy yet deeply fulfilling. The most memorable moment for me is frozen in time from late this summer in Tianjin, China.
At the Media Center of The 2025 Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit in Tianjin, two giant murals specially created by the People’s Daily captured the attention of many. These works featured not only China’s Great Wall and Temple of Heaven but also ingeniously integrated landmarks and cultural elements from SCO member states such as Russia, Kazakhstan, and Pakistan. Together, they painted a vivid scene of unity and cooperation within the “SCO Family.”
On site, I witnessed many foreign colleagues specifically choosing to film their stand-up reports and take photos in front of these murals, visually blending in with the scenery behind them. A Pakistani journalist smiled and said to me, “Look, I found myself in the painting!” At that moment, I felt deeply that this was not merely a convergence of landmarks, but a meeting of minds and a testament to our shared destiny.
Being able to “find yourself in the painting” is possible because of the presence of respect, inclusivity, and empathy here. Beyond these murals lies a China that is becoming increasingly open and spectacular. Here, the stories of modernization are rich and diverse, and the people are warm and hospitable.
In the coming year, I sincerely invite all of you to visit China, to walk around and see it with your own eyes. Whether in bustling cities or the beautiful countryside, I hope you can “find your own” stories here and discover even more unseen wonders!
I wish you all a Happy New Year and a prolific year ahead!
2. New Year message from Tania Glouhtcheva
Head of the International Department of DUMA Newspaper, Bulgaria
“My dear friends and colleagues, dear fellow journalists! We are saying “Farewell” to a year full of many unexpected events – some of them good, others – not that much…
Thank you for always being objective, and most of all – thank you for being ambassadors of the truth! During turbulent times, when fake news spread in the speed of light, our mission is to protect the truth and share it with the people.
I wish you a wonderful 2026, full of health, happiness, love and above all – peace.
Let’s all follow the president Xi Jinping’s wise words, to solve problems and conflicts with the most powerful weapon, called “dialogue”!
May there be food on every table, tears only of joy and may there not be a single child left without a real childhood!
Happy New Year!
