The best way to understand China’s modernization — and the opportunities it creates for the world — is to come see it for yourself. Recently, a delegation of 20 journalists from 17 Latin American countries did exactly that. They visited Guangzhou for the 2025 Understanding China Conference, where they engaged with experts and observations to gain firsthand insights into China’s 15th Five-Year Plan, the country’s development blueprint for the next five years.
Through field visits and in-depth discussions, the journalists explored how China’s rapid modernization and open policies are creating new possibilities for China–LATAM cooperation — from industry and agriculture to trade, ports, and maritime connectivity.
