At the 2nd Orchid Awards held in Beijing this week, Irina Bokova, former Director-General of UNESCO , received the Lifetime Honorary Award — a tribute to her lifelong dedication to cultural dialogue, education, and multilateralism.
“She built from heritage a shield of peace, and nurtured hope that growth will never cease,” reads the tribute from the Orchid Awards.
This year’s Orchid Awards also recognized other foreign friends and organizations — including Rashid Alimov, Maxime Vivas, and the Philadelphia Orchestra — for advancing people-to-people understanding and contributing to a shared global future.
At Home of Journalists, we pay tribute to these storytellers, diplomats, and cultural leaders — and the belief they share: that communication, respect, and empathy are the foundation for a more peaceful world.
