Stop Creating Black holes of Truth – Immediately Ensure the Safety of Journalists in Conflict Zones

According to the latest reports from China’s Xinhua News Agency and China Media Group, the headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran News Network in Tehran was attacked by Israel. The strike resulted in the tragic death of one employee due to severe injuries, with preliminary estimates indicating that several other staff members were also wounded.

Live footage from the network showed powerful explosions and thick smoke rising from within the broadcast studio. Xinhua correspondents on the ground also reported hearing continuous blasts over the skies of Tehran.

The targeting of a national television station during live broadcast is a deliberate and flagrant assault on a news organization. No matter the justification, subjecting media institutions to military attack crosses the moral and legal red lines of modern civilization. This act not only destroys infrastructure and threatens the lives of journalists, but also constitutes a direct blow to global media safety and credibility.

News institutions are entrusted with upholding the public’s right to know, which is a fundamental human right. When violence attempts to silence and obscure the truth, defending press safety becomes the critical safeguard that prevents society from spiraling into a black hole of information.

The Home of Journalists calls on all parties to immediately cease all attacks in violation of international humanitarian law, stop creating black holes of truth, and take urgent action to protect journalists working in conflict zones.
