Several hundred experts in political communication from 47 countries convened in Havana from March 17 to 19 for the fourth Patria International Colloquium, whose opening ceremony was attended by Cuba’s President Miguel Diaz-Canel. The event, organized by the Union of Journalists of Cuba and held at the University of Havana, brought together academics, journalists and media leaders, including a delegation of All-China Journalists Association, to reclaim the narrative of political communication for the Global South. Participants discussed the influence of digital platforms on political participation and the configuration of power, the associated challenges and the ethical and liberating use of technology.
