A young boy wearing sky blue shirt and pants, holding a school bag and wearing a cap printed Red star on it. It was the first glimpse of China I have seen in my life when I was studying in class 9. The picture was printed in a book cover.

One my senior provided me that book to read. in big letter the title was written “Red Star Over China”.

Though we were taught that China is our neighboring country having Buddhist cultural ties. There was a story in our coursebook about great artist ARNIKO who was brought to china by Chinese King to made IDOLS centuries ago. Through, the book, I had little information about china. But the Red star book was different than we have been hearing about china. It was the first book from where I came to know that China has crossed a hard history of struggle to freedom.  long journey to achieve the liberation of common people from landlords and a historic revolution that shake the entire world. The book inspired us to fight for people and join student movements.

Later, Lu, shun was my favorite Chinese writer where I knew more about Chinese society and culture. The study about Chinese literature from Lushun to Aang Mo taught us very much about philosophy, culture and struggle of Chinese people. this inspired us, wider our horizon of world outlook. This learning and knowing about china are still continuing and now we are inspiring by great leader xi zinping and his contribution to china and world.

What we understand about china is completely differ than what the western people were taught to know about China. For us, China is a peoples’ democratic country developing towards the path of socialism through establishing a prosperous china and initiating for alternative world order.
