ACJA and Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan Renew News Exchange & Cooperation Agreement

On June 15, Liu Siyang, Secretary of the Party Group and Vice President of ACJA, met with Kholmurod Salimov, Acting Chairman of Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan in Beijing to exchange views on news exchange and cooperation of journalist organizations of the two countries. After the meeting, the parties renewed the China-Uzbekistan News Exchange & Cooperation Agreement under the Belt and Road. Tian Yuhong, a Party member and Executive Secretary, attended the meeting and signing ceremony.

Liu first welcomed Salimov to China on behalf of the ACJA. He said the journalist organizations of China and Uzbekistan have always maintained friendly exchanges. In September 2019, the two countries signed a friendly exchange and cooperation agreement, and they have been in contact online during the COVID-19 pandemic. He hopes that the renewal of the agreement today will further promote communication and cooperation between the journalist organizations of the two countries.

Liu also introduced the development of China’s journalism and the history, development and functions of the ACJA. He pointed out that the association is committed to furthering friendly exchanges between the Chinese press and its foreign counterparts and building its own recognizable activities that are characteristic, eye-catching, and influential by promoting the construction of “Journalist’s House” in the new era, hosting a national major news center, conducting vocational training, news work appraisal and selection, and journalist assistance.

Salimov said that he is delighted to visit the ACJA again since his last visit in 2019. The Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan attaches great importance to the exchange and cooperation with ACJA and hopes to deepen the friendly relations between the journalist organizations and the press of the two countries through such activities as vocational training and co-hosting forum, so that both parties would be able to tell the story of cooperation in various fields well.

The heads of the journalist organizations from both sides also had in-depth exchanges on how to improve and expand news exchange and cooperation between the two countries.
